South Carolina man charged in Toccoa vehicle theft

A South Carolina man is facing charges in connection with the theft of a motorcycle and trailer from a Toccoa business. Anderson County deputies arrested 30-year-old Cody Maxwell Stovall on August 6 and charged him with two counts of theft by taking.

The arrest followed a nearly two-week-long search for a suspect in the case.

The business owner reported the motorcycle and trailer stolen from the parking lot on Sunday evening, July 27. Security footage showed a truck with a South Carolina license plate entering the lot and leaving with the stolen items. Investigators later learned the plate was not registered to that vehicle.

Using the FLOCK camera system, the SCSO Traffic Unit tracked the suspect truck. A BOLO (Be On the Look Out) was issued to the public through social media and the sheriff’s office’s mobile app.
