Final approval: Updated ordinance to allow residents to have chickens

Council approved an updated ordinance that allows residents to keep hens on their property.

Roosters are not allowed in city limits and hens are only permitted to be kept on lots with a detached single-family home. Each residence is allowed to have no more than five hens at a time. All chickens must be confined to the rear yard of the property by a fence or wall and they must be kept in a chicken coop between 18 inches and six feet tall.
