Black Moon rises Friday night

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – A “Black” Moon is ahead for the end of this week. You won’t see it like a full moon, in fact it’s a new moon. Therefore, the sky will be black and the moon will blend right in.

It’s called the Black Moon because it’s the 3rd new moon of four in the summer season. Similarly, a Blue Moon happens when it’s the third full moon of 4 in a season. This will happen Friday night into Saturday.

It’s a good thing we won’t have a big, bright moon this week into the weekend since the Perseid Meteor Shower is ongoing. It’s easier to see those shooting stars in dark night sky…
