GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) — The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office is introducing new safety practices after two deputies were shot during a SWAT training exercise in July.
The incident occurred inside a vacant building at 2000 Wade Hampton Boulevard on July 29. The pair were hit by a breaching round from a shotgun.
The deputies were hospitalized and one deputy underwent surgery, officials said. One deputy has since returned to work on a “light-duty status,” while the other is still recovering from his injuries.
