Spartanburg County residents accused of hiding drugs in books sent to prison inmates

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – Three Spartanburg County residents, including a former corrections officer, have been arrested after officials said they sent books laced with drugs to inmates at 14 prisons.

The South Carolina Department of Corrections said on Friday it had arrested three people on charges of sending books containing sheets of paper laced with suboxone and a synthetic marijuana commonly known as K2 to at least 20 inmates at prisons across the state.

The department of corrections said agents confiscated 666 sheets of paper soaked in K2 and 241 suboxone strips from packages sent between March and June. All of the packages were mailed from the Woodruff Post Office…
