Four Winds Florist to close in September

TRYON—Established in 1940, Four Winds Florist has been a Tryon institution for more than 70 years. Situated in this unique spot in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the heart of equestrian country, Four Winds Florist specialized in custom floral designs. As the business blossomed, and ownership changed, it occupied a few different storefronts up and down Trade St. in Tryon, until it settled just around the corner on Maple St. Carole Ormand has been the owner for 20 years, but now it’s time to retire and close the business.

“I’ve loved every minute of my time serving the community with their floral needs, and when you love flowers as much as I do, that makes for a perfect combination,” she said. Not only did she create vibrant and artistic floral designs, but she also loved to throw together little bouquets for an impromptu birthday celebration or an elegant posy for a hostess gift. She also added art and fair trade to her inventory, which turned her store into a unique shopping destination…
