GREENVILLE, S.C. — If you’re looking for a last-minute “staycation” as the summer comes to a close, HGTV just gave a list of what it calls the 40 most charming small downtowns across America — and two are in South Carolina.
HGTV said that to narrow down the list, it looked for vibrant and inviting places among the country’s small towns. IT also looked at history, architecture, shops and local culture. Conway and Greenville were both ranked closely on the list.
Conway was described as “packed with Southern charm,” featuring highlights such as its historic district, Riverwalk trail, rich history, and vibrant culinary scene. It also pointed to nine “larger-than-life” murals.
Meanwhile, Greenville was recognized for its combination of natural beauty, Southern charm, and an assortment of cafes, boutiques, gardens, and art galleries. As for ways to enjoy the town, HGTV highlighted “Mice on Main,” which features bronze mice figurines inspired by the book “Goodnight Moon” along Main Street…
