SPARTANBURG, S.C. – A former Spartanburg Community College employee has been charged in connection with a computer crime that allegedly caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage to the college’s systems.
Reaj Islam, 52, was arrested and charged with Computer Crime Act – Value Exceeds $10,000 – 1st Degree, according to a release from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED). The charge stems from an incident that occurred on July 9, 2025.
According to the arrest warrant, Islam accessed the college’s network and deleted user data from the institution’s database. The warrant states that the act of “dumping the system” caused an estimated $30,000 to $50,000 in damages…
