New restaurant to serve Roman-style ‘pizza by the slice, because that’s how we grew up’

Tastes of South Italy, Roman-style pizza, and Gotham City are soon coming to Augusta Street by way of a trio of New Yorkers with a passion for square pies.

Augusta Street Pizza is a new restaurant concept at 2222 Augusta St., #4. Expected to open this fall, the restaurant will offer Roman-style pizza, ranging from premium to only sauce-and-cheese, by the slice, alongside authentic Italian sandwiches and handcrafted gelato.

Owners Nick Castronuovo and Carmelo “Carmine” Curra met nearly 30 years ago while working on Wall Street and always dreamt of owning a pizza shop that was reminiscent of their families’ South Italy ties and New York upbringing…
