GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Tropical Storm Gabrielle is struggling Thursday as dry air in the area and high wind shear is working against any further development.
Intensification is slow through the weekend. Early next week, the storm encounters a more favorable atmosphere and is expected to strengthen into a hurricane.
The guidance shows good agreement in the system staying away from the Caribbean Islands as it moves around the Bermuda high. This weekend, the system turns north as it reaches the edge of the ridge of high pressure. The trend with the latest data is for an even faster turn, keeping Gabrielle east of Bermuda.
