Greenville, S.C. – Warm, stormy weather is setting up across the Carolinas Friday, with afternoon highs pushing into the upper 80s and low 90s while thunderstorms build over the mountains and foothills.
According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, temperatures will climb a couple of degrees higher than Thursday, with Greenville expected to reach 89°, Spartanburg near 88°, and Anderson topping out around 90°. The added heat will fuel scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially in western North Carolina and the South Carolina Upstate.
Rain chances rise to 40–60% in the higher terrain by mid-afternoon, with the heaviest activity focused along the Blue Ridge. Cities including Hendersonville, Asheville, and Brevard could see downpours and lightning, while Greenville and Spartanburg face a lower but still notable chance of storms.
