New Piedmont production plant will support 700 jobs and 50,000-unit annual capacity by 2030
Isuzu North America Corporation officially broke ground this week on a 1,000,000-square-foot truck production facility in Piedmont, South Carolina, marking a major expansion of the company’s U.S. manufacturing footprint. The new plant represents a $280 million investment and will eventually support the production of 50,000 medium-duty trucks annually, including N-Series Gas, N-Series Electric, and F-Series models.
Set to begin operations in 2027, the facility is expected to create more than 700 new jobs in Greenville County by 2028.
Ceremony marks symbolic and strategic milestone
The groundbreaking event was attended by key officials from both the U.S. and Japan, including South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, Isuzu Motors Limited CEO Masanori Katayama, and Japanese Ambassador to the U.S. Shigeo Yamada. In addition to remarks from dignitaries, the ceremony featured a ceremonial gift exchange and cherry tree planting to symbolize friendship between Japan and the U.S.
