Hearings are underway over a matter that could result in rate hikes for Upstate residents. A series of hearings are being held by the State Public Service Commission about a possible Duke Energy rate increase.
Officials with Duke Energy say the commission is asking for a revenue increase of 150 million dollars. If the move is approved, it would bring an increase of about 10 dollars for 1,000 kilowatt hours each month. Commercial and industrial customers would see an increase of over 5%.
More than 650,000 people across the Upstate are Duke Energy customers. If approved, the rate increase would take effect in March of next year…
