PICKENS COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – Efforts to save Pickens County’s first and only homeless shelter have paid off.
On Sunday Sunshine Gantt, co-owner of Pickens County Shelter of Hope, announced an agreement to buy the building which houses the shelter.
In October, it was reported the homeless shelter may soon close as the owner of the building Pickens County Shelter of Hope resides in wanted to sell the property. The owners of the shelter were unable to come up with the money to buy the building and were facing an eviction hearing on Monday.

On Saturday, Gantt said in an email a planned eviction hearing for Pickens County Shelter of Hope has been cancelled after the owner agreed to sell the property to the shelter for $350,000 – a significant discount from the $425,000 they were initially quoted…
