Duke Energy requests $150 million rate increase in South Carolina

SOUTH CAROLINA — Duke Energy’s proposal to raise electric rates drew public feedback Monday during a hearing hosted by the South Carolina Public Service Commission at the Anderson County Council chambers.

Duke Energy is seeking a total revenue increase of $150 million, or 7.7%. If approved, residential customers using 1 kilowatt-hour per month would see an average increase of about $10.30 on their monthly bills. Commercial customers would see an average increase of 5.4%, while industrial customers would see about a 5.2% rise.
