GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Greenville Humane Society thought shepherd siblings Daisy and Koda found their forever homes last year. But an unusual coincidence brought both dogs back to the shelter.
As puppies, Daisy and Koda were rescued from an abusive situation and taken to a cruelty recovery center. They arrived at Greenville Humane Society in November 2024.
For local organizations like Golden Harvest Food Bank, which say they have not seen these levels of hunger in more than a decade, the shutdown has only increased community need.
Shelter officials don’t know exactly what the pups endured before they were rescued, but said most animals at cruelty recovery centers are from abuse, neglect or hoarding cases…
