Freeze, winter storm warnings in effect for the Carolinas

(WSPA) — Snow showers are expected along the North Carolina-Tennessee border on Monday, with Swain County under a winter storm warning.

Higher elevations in Swain County could see up to a foot of snow, while valleys might experience a dusting to three inches. The snow is anticipated to pick up later this afternoon into tonight as an upper-level area of low pressure moves through.
