SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) — Conversations became heated during a Spartanburg County Council meeting Monday night, when Councilman Monier Abusaft and newly elected Sheriff Bill Rhyne discussed “corruption” within the sheriff’s office.
What started as peaceful discussion regarding the sheriff’s salary turned intense after Rhyne asked Abusaft to “use caution before lumping in the entire department” when calling the agency corrupt.
“What you don’t realize is there’s this commonality of people who want to say they knew it. But I think the thing that you’ll figure out the most, there was an undertone whisper that took place there,” Rhyne explained. “But people having absolute evidence of that? If they had absolute evidence, they would’ve come forward — they would’ve gone to SLED.”…
