The Clemson University Police Department (CUPD) received the Gold Level distinction in the 2025 Law Enforcement Challenge. The initiative is organized by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Networks (SCLEN). The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announced the awards on December 2, 2025. Sixty-one agencies across the state were recognized with gold, silver, or bronze awards for their work in traffic safety and enforcement.
Interim CUPD Chief Christopher Harrington said the award reflects the department’s focus on roadway safety and education. CUPD uses directed patrols, safety checkpoints, and daily traffic initiatives to improve safety in the Clemson community and support state traffic safety goals.
During the year, CUPD took part in several enforcement activities. These included statewide campaigns such as MADD’s Saturation Saturday and the Hands Across the Border checkpoint in August.
