SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – State officials have identified 27 news cases of measles in Spartanburg County and possible exposures at another Spartanburg County school.
The South Carolina Department of Public Health reported on Tuesday 27 new cases of measles have been confirmed since last Friday. The total number of cases related to the Upstate outbreak is 111.
More than half of the new cases – 16 – resulted from a previously reported exposure at Way of Truth Church in Inman and eight new cases are household members of previously reported cases, one case resulted from a previously identified school exposure, one was from an exposure in a health care setting and the source of one exposure is unknown.
Based on the new cases, DPH has identified exposures at Inman Intermediate school and officials have notified potentially exposed students and staff. There are currently 43 students in quarantine, and students who quarantine without becoming sick are expected to return to classes on December 15…
