‘Please help us’: 911 call reveals moments before family vanished at Caesars Head State Park

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – For the first time, 911 calls reveal dispatchers’ efforts to keep a family calm after they became lost at Caesars Head State Park.

On November 24, Greenville County deputies said they were searching for Tonda Michelin, her three grandchildren, and their dog who were last heard from while hiking the Raven Cliff Falls trail inside the park.

No connection

The first call to 911 was at 5:43 p.m., but the line was silent. A second attempt, one minute later also didn’t connect.

More than an hour later, just before 7 p.m., a third call finally got through to dispatchers. The fear in their voices was clear…
