Abnormally dry conditions have pushed an Upstate river basin into a Stage 1 drought, with water users across the region being asked to conserve water as lake and stream levels are monitored voluntarily.
According to a press release from The Keowee-Toxaway Drought Management Advisory Group, the river basin has entered a Stage 1 drought. Stage 1 is the second of five drought stages in the KT Low Inflow Protocol, starting from stage 0. The group said a stage 0 drought was reached on Aug. 1.
