SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities have charged a South Carolina woman with stealing more than $10,000 from a vulnerable adult over the course of about four months.
The Attorney General’s Office said its Vulnerable Adults and Medicaid Provider Fraud unit arrested 58-year-old Deneane Cantrell of Spartanburg, Thursday, on one count each of exploitation of a vulnerable adult and breach of trust with fraudulent intent valued at $10,000 or more. Both charges are felonies.
The attorney general’s office alleged that, between March and July of 2024, Cantrell, who had power of attorney over the victim, misappropriated roughly $10,300 for her own benefit. The victim was designated as a vulnerable adult under state law…
