Man identified after being struck and killed while working on trailer on I-26 entrance ramp

CAYCE, S.C. — Authorities have identified one person who died following a multi-vehicle interstate crash in Lexington County on Wednesday.

Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway with the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) said that the crash happened around 3 p.m. on I-26 westbound at the entrance ramp to Airport Boulevard at mile marker 113.

Ridgeway said a 2014 Mazda sedan towing a utility trailer had stopped and was legally parked on the entrance ramp. An occupant of the car was working on the trailer when a 2009 Ford pickup, traveling west on the entrance ramp, veered off the right side of the road and struck the utility trailer, the victim, and the back of the Mazda sedan…
