Spartanburg restaurant mistakenly identified as measles exposure site

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – A Spartanburg restaurant was mistakenly identified as the site of a public exposure to a case of measles in November, state officials confirmed on Wednesday.

During a media briefing on the current state of the measles outbreak in Spartanburg County, Dr. Linda Bell South Carolina’s state epidemiologist, confirmed a November 10 report stating a person infected with measles had eaten at Kanpai of Tokyo in Spartanburg was incorrect.

Bell said the initial report placing the exposure at Kanpai of Tokyo was based on an interview with someone with measles who had reported eating at the restaurant. It incorrectly warned anyone who visited the restaurant during a three-hour window on November 2 may have been exposed to measles…
