TRYON—On December 20, at 3 pm, the Polk/Rutherfordton Big Brothers Big Sisters group held its annual Christmas party at Tryon Resort. The festive event welcomed 22 “Littles” from the program, who enjoyed a day of ice skating, pizza, gifts, and a special visit from Santa Claus.
As one of the fastest-growing programs in the region, the Polk/Rutherfordton chapter is now the second largest among the 18-county western North Carolina area. Currently, the program supports 44 Littles through its community and high school mentoring initiatives.
Program coordinator Jessica Toney expressed her gratitude for the community’s involvement, and said the chapter’s growth is driven by local support and the Polk County Community Foundation.
