Upstate coroners say many 2025 deaths were preventable, hope 2026 numbers decline

UPSTATE, S.C. (WSPA) – Coroners across Anderson, Greenville, and Spartanburg counties say 2025 revealed troubling and often preventable trends in how people are dying.

As we ring in 2026, three Upstate counties are confronting a hard reality – more families are grieving lives lost on our roads, to addiction, and to suicide.
