Man charged after trying to redeem stolen lottery tickets at Upstate stores: Warrants

FAIR PLAY, S.C. (WSPA) — An Alabama man was arrested after being accused of attempting to redeem stolen scratch-off lottery tickets from two Fair Play businesses in 2024.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) announced Monday that 24-year-old Kieran L. Jones, of Eight Mile, was charged with two counts of intent to defraud counterfeit lottery tickets.

Warrants report that Jones stopped by Leonard’s Quick Stop and Love’s Travel Stop on Old Dobbins Bridge Road on May 11, 2024. He attempted to redeem scratch-off tickets at the stores, which investigators said had been stolen from a business in Spartanburg, officials said.

According to SLED, video evidence helped in the investigation. He was arrested on December 29 and booked into the Anderson County Detention Center…
