Every college football program in the country uses the NCAA transfer portal differently.
Programs like Texas, Georgia and Ohio State have taken the approach of adding a select handful of players to fill needs, while programs like Colorado, Indiana and Texas Tech have virtually gone all-in on building their rosters through the transfer portal. One program that has taken a drastic approach in the other direction are the Clemson Tigers.
Dabo Swinney and company have brought in a total of six transfers dating back to 2021, with two of them being backup quarterbacks that essentially served as graduate assistants in Paul Tyson and Hunter Johnson. However, with the Tigers limping to a lackluster 7-6 record this season despite returning the most production in college football, a recent report revealed that Swinney may be secretly going after a top transfer.
