NC health officials discuss flu, measles spread as changes come to vaccine schedules

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — North Carolina health officials are tracking increases in cases involving measles and several respiratory viruses.

The uptick comes as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is changing its vaccine recommendations for children.

Right now, North Carolina is at 71 total flu deaths for the season. At least four measles cases were reported in the past week, all in the western part of the state. State health officials emphasize that vaccines are the best way to prevent the spread of these viruses.
