Gov. Stein shines light on nonprofit that’s helped 100 households after Helene

SALUDA, N.C. (WLOS) — On Friday, Dec. 9, Governor Josh Stein visited Saluda resident Rick Henderson.

Henderson, who lives along the Green River in Polk County, would still be struggling to repair damage from Helene to his home, were it not for the nonprofit Housing Assistance Corporation.

“Nonprofits are really agile,” Stein said “The Hendersons didn’t need their whole house rebuilt here, but they had a few systems that were severely damaged, and they needed some help.”…
