Greenville County tops SC in human trafficking probes

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Authorities conducted human-trafficking investigations involving hundreds of victims in 41 of South Carolina’s 46 counties in 2025, according to Attorney General Alan Wilson.

Wilson’s office released the results of the annual South Carolina Human Trafficking Task Force report Monday morning at a news conference at the State House with local, state and federal officials and other leaders.

The five counties where the most investigations took place were Greenville with 35, Berkeley and Charleston with 30 each, Richland with 28, Lexington with 27, and Dorchester with 21. In 2024, Greenville County had the most investigations, with 32. The rest of the top five included Charleston and Richland counties with 31, Horry County with 22 and Lexington with 21.

In the Grand Strand and Pee Dee, the 2025 report shows Horry County with 17 investigations, followed by Florence County with five, Dillon and Marion counties with three each, Marlboro County with two, and Darlington and Georgetown counties with one each…
