SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A man was arrested after falsely telling Spartanburg County deputies that someone shot him in the head.
Deputies were called to a shooting on Shaw Road on January 7, where they found 55-year-old Joe Alvin Ausburn suffering from a gunshot wound to the back of his head. Ausburn told deputies that a person had come onto his property and shot him.
He was airlifted to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Ausburn later admitted to investigators that he had not been attacked and the gunshot was self-inflicted, deputies said…
