CLIFTON, S.C. (WSPA) — More than a year later, many major recovery needs from Hurricane Helene are still unmet. One organization partnered with Spartanburg County’s Long-Term Recovery Group in hopes of making a difference.
Crews with Mennonite Disaster Services are rebuilding a home in Clifton, and two others in Spartanburg County. It’s all made possible through a partnership with Spartanburg County’s Long-Term Recovery Group, Spartanburg County Foundation, and SC Office of Resilience.
“The partnership with Mennonite Disaster Services started in the summer of 2025 when they reached out to us. They understood the damage that was done by Helene in Spartanburg, and they identified themselves as the last in, last out organization to help with long term recovery,” explained Ashley Whitt with Spartanburg Community Foundation. “Through building that partnership we’re raising dollars to fund the building materials. Mennonite Disaster Services is providing all the labor through their volunteer resources.”…
