Old Grove Road heavy truck traffic draws Greenville County resolution: County Council notes

Approved: Resolution requesting restrictions on Old Grove Road

Council adopted a resolution requesting the state Department of Transportation evaluate traffic along Old Grove Road and implement restrictions on heavy trucks.

The measure was proposed by councilman Ennis Fant (District 25) during the requests and motions portion of the meeting. Instead of the normal procedure of sending the proposal to committee, council voted to waive that requirement and voted to approve the resolution.

Fant said heavy truck traffic along Old Grove Road has increased with many large trucks using the narrow two-lane road as a shortcut from the Augusta Grove Business Park. That truck traffic poses an ongoing risk to other motorists and pedestrians, many of whom are students walking to Grove Elementary School.
