Wrongful death lawsuit filed in Greenville Co. double homicide

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) — A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against Greenville County and Sentinel Offender Services over the 2024 murders of Anissa Henderson and Kelli Whitten by Gary Whitten, who then set a home on fire to cover up the crime.

The lawsuit claims that Whitten, who was on GPS monitoring at the time of the murders, had been prohibited from approaching Henderson’s home but managed to do so without the monitoring service notifying the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office until after he cut the monitor.

Following the incident, Whitten was killed during a manhunt led by the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office…
