HONEA PATH, S.C. (WSPA) — The Honea Path Police Department arrested a man after a series of alleged crimes that included stealing business property and spray-painting graffiti on a newly paved road.
Officers took Hunter Dean Shook into custody on Feb. 1 following reports of destruction in the area of Sirrine Street and Kay Street.
During the arrest, Shook reportedly told officers he had recently been released from the Department of Corrections. The vandalism targeted Sirrine Street, a roadway that officials noted was in desperate need of repair before it was recently repaved.
According to police, Shook used fluorescent orange spray paint to deface the public property, where officers said children gather daily to wait for their school bus. The graffiti featured initials, symbols and vulgar statements specifically directed at law enforcement officers…
