Several neighborhood facilities in the city of Greenville are being upgraded to better serve the community. Greenville City Council received a progress report on the four projects during its annual retreat on Feb. 13.
Nicholtown Community Center
Renovations are wrapping up on the Nicholtown Community Center. The $5.35 million project aims to modernize the existing 6,048-square-foot facility at 112 Rebecca St. to meet the neighborhood’s needs.
The renovated and expanded facility will include staff office space, two large multi-purpose rooms, an improved kitchen, a fitness area and a teen lounge. Site improvements are being completed as part of the project, including adding a new playground, a walking trail with fitness stations, improved parking areas, a new park shelter and a resurfaced basketball court.
The Nicholtown Community Center is expected to reopen in April. Greenville City Councilmember Ken Gibson said the upgraded facility will be great for residents in the Nicholtown community…
