City of Greenville warns residents of email scam seeking permit approval fees

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – City of Greenville officials are warning residents and businesses of an active email scam appearing to be sent from the Planning Commission.

The city said one email came from “[email protected]” was to a resident asking for a $3,900 payment for an application approval fee.

According to officials, the email also asked to “proceed with settlement according to the issued wire instructions” and that “until the fee is received and confirmed, the application cannot be fully executed or closed administratively.”…
