Project Bento to invest $11.5 million, add 202 jobs to Anderson County

The Anderson County Council has agreed to a fee-in-lieu-of-tax agreement with a foreign company known as “Project Bento,” which plans to invest millions in the county.

On March 3, the Anderson County Council voted unanimously on a first reading to approve a fee-in-lieu-of-tax agreement with an unnamed business, Project Bento. The business is unnamed because the company wants time to prepare shareholders and current employees for the potential move and protect the company from competitors.

The company, Project Bento, is a foreign food-processing business seeking to establish operations in Anderson County and is expected to invest $11.5 million over the next five years, creating 202 full-time jobs…
