Longtime patrons saddened after Greenville Mexican restaurant announces closure

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – A popular Mexican restaurant in Greenville has permanently closed, and some longtime patrons are saddened by the loss.

On The Border, located at 74 Beacon Drive, had a sign on its doors that read, “It has truly been our pleasure to serve this community.” The announcement comes several months after crews responded to an electrical fire that damaged part of the building.

The restaurant told FOX Carolina that it is unable to provide a reason for the closure at this time.

When the Dean family arrived at the restaurant for some Friday lunch, they were saddened to learn the news. Paul Dean said that his family has been dining at On The Border since 1999.

“We were here Wednesday. I eat here three, four times a week. All my friends make fun of me,” Dean explained. “So they [the restaurant] told us on Wednesday that their last day was Friday, which is today. We get here, you know, going to send them out with a hug, but they’re closed. Closed permanently. We missed them.”…
