Traffic stop leads to drug and firearm seizure

On March 12, 2026, around 9:57 PM, an officer with the Celina Police Department conducted a traffic stop on East Market Street that led to the seizure of illegal drugs and firearms. Patrolman Zac Nelson stopped a red 2005 Chevrolet Cruze with South Carolina plates for a window tint violation.

During the stop, a handgun was found between the driver’s seat and the door. The driver, Cesar Aldenis Garcia, age 25, from Greer, South Carolina, was arrested without incident. A search of the vehicle uncovered about 16 grams of methamphetamine and a second firearm. Garcia is being held in the Mercer County Jail on drug charges pending review by Mercer County Prosecutor Erin Minor
