GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Neighbors in rural Piedmont are raising concerns about recent road work on Flat Rock Road, questioning whether the repaving and expansion could signal a renewed push for a high-density subdivision the county has denied twice.
The concerns follow a lawsuit filed by Forestar Real Estate Group against Greenville County, claiming the county violated the developer’s vested rights by denying the Owens Glen subdivision last year after approving it in 2024. The proposed development would have brought nearly 300 homes to 117 acres in rural Piedmont.
Road work raises questions
Piedmont resident Aimee McCord said the repaving — long cited by neighbors as a reason to oppose Owens Glen — should have been welcome.
