Greenville County considers new development rules as growth outpaces infrastructure

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Greenville County Council members on Tuesday named growth and infrastructure among their top priorities for 2026, saying they are weighing multiple options to address development concerns.

Old Initiatives, New Ideas

During a Committee of the Whole meeting, council members discussed priorities identified at a recent retreat, with how the county is keeping up with growth at the top of the list.

The Unified Development Ordinance — which would have streamlined the county’s development and zoning codes — was mentioned as a possibility, though council denied it last year.
