Investigators make second arrest in 2001 Belton homicide cold case

A second man has been charged in a decades-long cold case in Belton that remained unsolved for almost 25 years.

Detectives arrested Carlos Mondreal Chamblee, 53, of Belton on March 17, according to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office. Chamblee is charged with murder, assault and battery with the intent to kill, and discharging a firearm into a dwelling and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. The shooting death happened on June 24, 2001.
