Newborn safely surrendered at South Carolina hospital under state’s Safe Haven law — fifth of 2026

COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina’s Department of Social Services (DSS) announced officials at AnMed Medical Center in Anderson County accepted an infant surrendered safely under the state’s Safe Haven for Abandoned Babies Act, also known as Daniel’s Law, on March 30, 2026.

This was the fifth Daniel’s Law baby surrendered in South Carolina in 2026.

The white baby boy was born at AnMed Medical Center on the day he was surrendered, weighing 7 pounds, 14 ounces and measuring 20.88 inches at birth…
