FIRST ALERT – Warming Through Friday, Much Need Rain This Weekend

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – It’s dry with a warming trend through Friday before a cold front ushers in rain this weekend. Temperatures cool down early next week before another rain system takes aim at the region Tuesday.

Wednesday Through Friday: Sunshine and Warmth

Conditions turn noticeably warmer through the end of the work week. Afternoon highs jump into the low to mid 80s across the Upstate, with the mountain sitting in the upper 70s to low 80s. Lows settle in to the 50s each night.

Sunshine dominates so there’s no reason to not get outside and enjoy! Winds gust to 20 mph Wednesday, but the lighten up into Thursday and Friday.

Fire danger remains a concern through Friday—very low humidity (20-30% each afternoon) combined with very dry vegetation create elevated fire activity. Fire Danger Statements remain in effect Northeast Georgia, with South and North Carolina under statewide burn bans. No outdoor burning allowed.

Saturday: The Cold Front Arrives with Rain

A cold front pushes through Saturday evening into Saturday night, finally ending the dry stretch. Showers move in Saturday afternoon, becoming more likely and potentially mixing with a thunderstorm or two after 3 p.m.

Highs Saturday land in the upper 70s to low 80s—still mild—but that front brings a shift. Rain continues into Saturday night before tapering off early Sunday morning. Expect light to moderate rainfall overall, with most of us picking a quarter to half an inch.

Sunday Into Monday: Drying Out Again (Briefly)

The cold front pushes south, and high pressure tries to build in from the north Sunday into Monday. If the high pressure drops far enough south we are looking at a dry spell for Sunday and Monday. However, the GFS is hinting at a weaker high pressure which would allow for a few showers to surge up from the south on Monday.

Afternoon highs Monday drop to the mid to upper 70s. Lows each night dip into the low to mid 50s.

Tuesday: The Next System Arrives

Moisture surges back in Monday night as another system approaches from the west. Right now, the exact timing is up in the air with the GFS showing rain moving in overnight and much more robust system, while the Euro brings in less rain and offset into the day Tuesday. This has the potential to bring us some decent rainfall if the system can stay together as it moves into our area. Beyond that, the rain chances become more murky. Both of the global models show ongoing rain chances however, they aren’t aligning on when the rain chances go up and down…
