Blood drive honors York County officer wounded in ambush

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — A blood drive is where a small sacrifice is made to benefit the lives of those in need.

The blood drive at the York Fairgrounds on Monday, however, honored a different kind of sacrifice — one made by York County Sheriff’s Deputy Lt. David Godfrey, who put his life on the line and nearly lost it.

“It’s been ups and downs and setbacks throughout, but you know, you take them as they come, you process them, and you keep moving on,” Godfrey said. “That’s really all you can do.”…
