Driver will not be charged in crash that killed 14-year-old in Harrisburg

The Dauphin County District Attorney announced that no charges will be filed against the driver involved in a crash that killed a teenager in Harrisburg last month.

According to a statement from District Attorney Fran Chardo, the Harrisburg Bureau of Police conducted a comprehensive review of the crash along the 2000 block of Derry Street on the evening of May 28, which killed 14-year-old Ryfeek Watson.

Chardo said the purpose of the review was to determine if a crime had been committed. It does not apply a negligence standard, which the DA says is a civil liability. Instead, there must be proof of recklessness in order to charge someone with homicide by vehicle…
