Carlisle woman found wandering Shippensburg in her underwear arrested for assaulting an officer, more

SHIPPENSBURG- Pennsylvania State Police and Shippensburg University PD say that a woman from Cumberland County assaulted an officer and more during a welfare check call early on Sunday morning. Valerie Ann Otero has been charged with felony aggravated assault against designated individuals, misdemeanor resisting arrest, and citations for disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, and harassment. She remains incarcerated in the Cumberland County Jail on $40,000 bail.

Pennsylvania State Police say they were called to assist Shippensburg University PD with a welfare check on a woman “wearing a black t-shirt and her underwear, walking in the roadway intoxicated.” Police would find the woman, later identified as Valerie Otero, already in the back of the SUPD cruiser.

Otero, PSP learned, was approached by SUPD when they found her “rolling on the ground in the roadway.” The SUPD officer attempted to detain Otero, but she reportedly began resisting and striking the officer in the chest multiple times. The officer had to bring Otero to the ground to fully arrest her…
